A dedicated industry with promising outlets:

The third edition of the European Sorghum Congress will be held in Toulouse, on October 12 and 13.

We are thrilled that the vaccination progress will enable participants to attend the congress in person. We will ensure that all sanitary requirements are met so that the attendees may enjoy optimal attendance conditions throughout the two congress days.

The sorghum industry will therefore be able to gather together again for fruitful exchanges on the crop’s future and processing opportunities. It will be a long-awaited reunion, after three years that have witnessed a constant growth in the grain and feed sorghum areas.

This year, the congress will focus on the downstream industry, as well as on highlighting outlet prospects in the feed, food, and industrial, sectors. This will constitute the focus of the three workshops that will take place on October 12, between 2 and 6 p.m., which will discuss:

  • Genetics and breeding,
  • Agronomy and cultivation methods,
  • Processing and industrial uses.

More than 250 participants from all over Europe as well as outside it are expected at the event, to represent the whole spectrum of the sorghum industry:

professional organisations and farmers; researchers and technical institutes; procurement centres and processors; national and European regulatory bodies; seed and crop protection companies, and any other actors involved in the value chain of sorghum.

Call for posters

The common thread of the congress will be the genetic and agronomic innovation, seen as a tool for better harnessing and diversification of sorghum outlets.

To this end, in addition to the presentations made during the plenary sessions and the workshops, a dedicated space will be set up for theme posters, with free access during the two days of the congress. The messages on the posters may be used to make “flash” presentations during the workshops held on October 12th.

We would therefore like to invite you to submit your oral presentations and/or posters before july 30th, mentioning the following:

  • Your chosen communication style: oral or poster
  • A declaration of intent of up to two pages (400 words), in English, specifying:
    • your topic (e.g. breeding, agronomy, crop protection, processing, outlets, marketing, etc),
    • the title of your work,
    • a summary/brief description thereof,
    • its author (first and last names, background, and titles),
    • the institution,
    • the country.

Please send your responses to the following e-mail address: martin.gomez@fnpsms.fr .

An evaluation committee will look into your applications and select the ones that may be presented either orally or under the form of posters, during the congress.

Thank you.
