An industry with promising outlets

Since the 1^st European Sorghum Congress in 2016, real momentum has been created around the crop. In 2017, Sorghum ID was established, the European sorghum association made up of organisations and companies representing different links in the supply chain. In 2018, the 2^nd Congress was held in Italy And this year, France held the 3^rd edition. The success of this 3^rd edition is evidence of the growing interest in sorghum.

• Record audience: 170 participants from 4 continents, Europe, of course, but also North America, South America and Africa.
• 40 speakers: researchers, economists, process engineers, agronomists, seed companies, climatologists, geneticists …
• A comprehensive programme: in 2 days in the form of plenary sessions and workshops it was possible to address all the key themes for the industry with well documented, expert contributions. World and European sorghum economics, the challenges for sorghum in response to climate change, perspectives for the sorghum industry in the USA, anticipated progress in terms of varietal selection, production techniques and outlets.
• Expertise and experience sharing: as well as presentations, workshops and time for exchanges around posters played a key role; in addition, several process engineers came to present their experiences, and some also provided tastings.
